The PsyMet corpus is the first textual database in Hungarian that features manual annotation of metaphorical expressions. The corpus consists of online forum posts in which language users share their suicidal intentions and thoughts with others to get help in dealing with them. The source of the posts is the BÚRA community support site. We selected individual texts for the corpus based on the following criteria: (i) they must be about suicidal thoughts (not the act of suicide), (ii) report on their own suicidal intentions (not on similar thoughts of others), and (iii) share current suicidal thoughts (not previous memories). The sample covers posts published between 2010 and 2021, and the corpus comprises 22,767 words.

The texts selected for the corpus underwent normalization, during which typos and non-standard forms were filtered out, abbreviations were expanded, and emoticons were removed. Metaphorical expressions were identified using the MetaID procedure (link to subpage) on the INCEpTION annotation interface. A total of nine professional annotators took part in annotating the corpus.  A randomly selected small sample (5 texts) was annotated jointly by all annotators, and then the participants annotated the next sample (5-5 texts) in pairs. The remaining part of the corpus was divided into equal parts and tagged individually by the annotators. The corpus also underwent curation, during which each annotation was checked and standardized by two annotators working in pairs.

The corpus was created with the support of ELTE National Laboratory for Social Innovation, and the infrastructure for conducting the annotation was supplied by the ELTE National Laboratory for Digital Heritage.
